Women's Sports
Anchored by BAWSI, the Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative co-founded by Brandi Chastain, connecting female athletes with youth in underserved communities.
Why it matters
The opportunity
Sport builds the confidence, teamwork and leadership women carry into business and life. Too many girls lose that before they ever get the chance.
Kids in BAWSI programs
BAWSI serves about 1,400 children at roughly two dozen schools, after enrollment grew nearly 50%.
Graduate high school
An alumni survey found more than 90% of BAWSI girls graduated from high school, and most went on to college.
Go on to lead
71% of people who played youth sports later held formal leadership roles as adults (Women's Sports Foundation).
